In the post above, I was talking about the 1966 Tech football season.
In my first years at Tech, girls could NOT smoke in the Tonk. It wasn't lady like!!! Girls had to wear dresses or skirts except in Gym class. Guys had to wear slacks or dress pants with a button down shirt. No sneakers allowed. Guys couldn't hold hands with a girl on campus.
So, do any of you remember how the Tonk got its name?????
Before my time. My oldest sister graduated in '42 and it was "The Tonk" then. Another hang out (not on campus) was the Kennel.
Freshman 'n 46. Graduated in '56 after being released from active duty,(USNR/des.1315) Yep, I'm in my gay nineties, but I'm not gay...
Freshman n 46....Lived on e. texas ave. stood out in the middle street and watched the "Ole Main" burn around '34. Yep, I'm in my "gay" ninetys, but I'm not gay.
