Does Dawgpix know they are opening a Johnny's in Baton Rouge?
''Don't be a bad dagh..."
It sure the hell isn't this: http://www.fleurdelispizza.com/ or http://www.pastimerestaurant.com/
The Baton Rouge natives love this Tombstone crap for some reason.
I ate at this place when we plyed lsu a few years ago. Was good.

If they boot out ulm, what do you guys think of Tech joining the belch?
(has this topic ever been discussed?)
Hell! I'll have to red dot myself for that one.
Where did all that come from? haha
Baton Rouge does have a lot of good pizza joints though. I used to really like the NY pizzeria in Shenandoah, but it died once the DeAngelo family started fighting with each other. I have a special love for Deano's Pizza in Lafayette too. OH, and anyone that hasn't tried out Oscar's Pizza & Ice Cream on Perkins across from Maxwell's Market is missin' out. They have some interesting pizza and some INSANELY good ice cream.
....I can't believe this thread was at the bottom of page 2.
Mellow Mushroom is the best option we have in Atlanta. Would prefer Johnny's.
Jordan Mills on choosing Tech:
“It’s a great experience seeing them play. It was a good atmosphere. The fans stood up the whole game and never sat down. They have a great fan base.”
Baton Rouge had excellent pizza years ago. It was found in a little place called Leon's Itallian Kitchen. Hand made by "Momma" including "homemade sausage, served by "Daughter," but you paid Mr. Leon. Legion has it the framed dollar bill (it was a silver certificate) behind the cash register was the first dollar paid on the first pizza ever served in Baton Rouge. YT spent many lunch times there during the "early career."
BTW Rougedawg, Johnny's has a pizza place in Zachary.
Being from the Atlanta area, I grew up on Mellow Mushroom and love it to this day. Just out of curiosity, where do you live in Atlanta, as much as I love MM, Atlanta is a big city, surely there is better pizza somewhere. I grew up in and am currently living back in Marietta, where there is some other really good pizza, in addition to several Mellow locations.
I live in the Oak Grove area (north of Druid Hills and Decatur). Obviously there are tons of pizza options in Atlanta, and everyone does it a bit different. My preference is MM. There is also a place right off of 10th near Georgia Tech that is really good (can't remember the name of it right now). But none of these places compare to Johnny's to me. Johnny's is not gourmet at all. The Sweep the Kitchen (my favorite of all their pies) is loaded like a Felini's pizza, but has a great thin beer-crust with just the perfect amount of sauce and cheese. It is like crack. You wouldn't believe how good it tastes just by looking at it.

I'll have to check that out next time I make that trip, do you know if there are locations in Monroe and Lafayette?
FWIW- pizza and burgers are the two things I always like to seek out when traveling. Nothing like finding good local pizza and burgers.
Some of my favorites from MT road trips...
In Mobile right across the street from South Alabama's campus is a place called Picklefish Pizza, some of the best I've ever had. They also do have a Mellow Mushroom very near campus.
In Hot Springs, Arkansas where our last two conference basketball tournaments have been held, there is a place called Rod's Pizza Cellar. It's one of two places that we ate at both years and we will definitely eat there again this year and every year that we continue to have the tournament there, but the current contract is up after this upcoming year.
Also on my trip to the UK right after graduation this past May I had some really good pizza at Harrod's in London, I also had what may have been the best burger of my life in a tiny pub with an upstairs restaurant in Cushendall, Northern Ireland.
Yes in Monroe. Don't know about Lafayette.
