Nothing good can come from not having a clear starting QB 6 days before the first game. Unless a miracle "light" is switched on in Ensminger's head or a miracle "accuracy and distance" pill is found for Jenkins' arm, yet another "almost" year may lie ahead.
We need to cut our new coaching staff some slack on this. They will get things figured out soon enough.
Either one will lead us to 9 or 10 wins.
The staff can't do too much about Ensminger being in a slump for most of fall camp. They certainly can't just tell the kid he's gonna start no matter what. The only thing that can salvage the QB position for this season is constant, heavy competition. None of them are good enough, so they have to keep fighting.
I know that this hurts our WR's- not getting reps with a consistent starter. However, with the playmakers we have there and the gaping hole we've got at QB, I think it'll benefit us more to cater towards the QB position than the WR position.
Burch passes the eye test, that's for sure. Anybody seen him throw? I figure he has the deep ball from his stature but what about accuracy?
GSU will be the 'pre-season' type game, better performance is gets the starting gig for A&M. Just glad we are not playing Navy, USM, or Navy first......
2 QB system for GSU is fine, winner take all. Nothing wrong with the person that plays better being the starter.
Sorry to disagree, but we're not good enough to win nine games right now, IMHO. Of course you could ask, how do I know ? I don't. We have some really good upside, just having that potential materalize is a different story. One test will be to keep fighting and not get frustrated while we figure out the QB situatuion. We just don't have a lot of confidence at that position right now and that makes a huge difference. Consistent high level QB play is the key to getting wins over UNR, Fresno, Hawii and USM. We don't have that right now, but I hope like heck we get it, sooner the better.
Ugh.
We need to be developing timing between QB and WRs right now.
This is not the time to be re-assessing and second guessing.
Its especially bad considering the type of offense we run. Timing is everything.
Will you guys support Ross if he is named the starter or are you still in the "anyone but Ross" camp after last year's performance?
If Ross stepped up his game like to make Dykes reasses the starting job then I think everyone will support him. I just want to see a guy that can be the playmaker we need.
