No, that's the best thing about malts, they can make them taste like anything. Some taste like energy drinks, some wine coolers, some taste like mixed drinks, and some taste like beer.
Malts are classified as "beer". And I'm pretty sure you aren't talking about the great flavor of Boone's, yet, it is considered a beer.
