Most likely out for the season. David Garrard had four INTs on Sunday, so they brought Luke in, and he tore the ACL in the 4th quarter.
This is the same ACL that he tore in '06, so he most likely will not return this season.
Jax is kind of hard on our player's knees isn't it?
It sure seems that way.
The good news is that since Luke is a veteran and was on the 53-man roster in week 1, his salary is guaranteed even if he is placed on IR for the rest of the year.
Best of luck to him in his rehab.
And this is his 7th season, so doesn't that set him up for an NFL pension?
Hope his rehab goes well and he can come back, but with as much trouble as he's had getting a starting gig, and with his league minimum continuing to rise, I imagine it will be tough for him to stay in the league much longer.
Congrats Luke!!!!!!!!!!

Jaguars reach deal with Luke McCown
Posted by Gregg Rosenthal on February 28, 2011, 4:17 PM EST
Jack Del Rio expressed great confidence in David Garrard at the NFL Scouting Combine and said the Jaguars would like to add a developmental quarterback in the draft.
The team still has room for one more quarterback.
The Jaguars announced an undisclosed contract for Luke McCown Monday. Tania Ganguli of the Florida Times-Union first reported that McCown was close to a one-year deal.
At one point last offseason, there were questions whether McCown could challenge Garrard for a starting job. When Garrard struggled early in the year, it looked like McCown may get the call.
McCown wound up replacing Garrard because of injury, then tore his ACL after throwing only 19 passes.
Good to hear!
Life is strange. Luke McCown is going to end up having a much longer NFL career than Tim Rattay did.

Then you get a guy like Todd Collins, who obviously could not even compete against college level talent still getting paid to play QB. Also see Dan Orlovski and Mark Brunell. For the most part, you have to compete to play in the NFL, but there are still some good ole boy positions out there (backup QB surprisingly being one of them).
Mark Brunell is a 3-time Pro Bowl selection.
He looked far away from his pro-bowl days in the last 3 games with the Saints year the seaon before last. I think their back-up, McDaniel, is a good back up and may become a starter in the NFL if the right opportunities exist. If McCown is in the right spot at the right time, it can happen. Look at Romo and the guy that backed up Brady. They were not household names, so noone had any expectations of them. Now they are both starters in the NFL. Tim was in the right spot at the wrong time, twice.
I can maybe understand Brunell as a mentor to Sanchez, but hell hire him as a coach then. Get a second stringer in there who has some upside. I think Brunell is a nice guy who fell on hard times, and someone wanted to give him a job. The man is 40 years old and had a fairly weak arm in his prime with good wheels. He is no longer a viable option to get out on the field in the NFL. His last Pro Bowl was 1999, last decent year was 2005.
