I think they know what they have and see him as a backup. They don't know Gabbert, so they need to see him in action to determine if he's really their next starter and what that timetable is going to be.Originally Posted by DawgyNWindow

I've seen nothing about Luke being hurt. He was listed as the backup with Gabbert, with Bouman being brought in as an insurance guy. Was surprised to see he didn't get any reps.

Hard to tell what these guys are doing, but from watching last night it looks like Luke is nothing more than a solid backup.
I think he went 8 for 9 and a TD, or something like that, and a win. Not bad.
That's the impression I've had from the Jags as long as he's been there. There are certainly worse jobs to have, but it's a shame he won't get much shot as a starter.
According to the NFL Network, the Jaguars have named Luke McCown their 2nd-string quarterback.
Thanks for the update; if that's true, he will get some pt this year (I don't believe that O-line can keep Garrard healthy).

Gerrard is the starter; Gabbert is the 3rd-string QB.
Interesting. Scouts love Gabbert's size and arm strength. He's never impressed me, and I think he'll end up being an NFL bust.

Lukes Brother didn't have the same good news Luke got. Josh got cut.
Looks like Garrard is getting cut. Maybe Luke will start?
