It seems to me cutting programs is the easy solution. I would prefer every program/dept to review their travel budget & other expenditures to balance the budget.
I think they are all WAY past that point...

Again, I strongly maintain that cost will be the driving force in athletics, including conference realignment, except for a very few wealthy programs.

Wow... I guess doing well just doesn't overcome the cost of doing business even in college sports.
They held on longer to some of these sports than a lot of other schools. There has been a decimation of the smaller sports over the last 10-15. Smaller schools never had them, and the bigger schools cut them to support the staple sports.
Can't believe they are cutting baseball. Figured they would have enough people at Cal to to support a baseball team.
