It depends on what side of the political spectrum you fall. The labor unions (big democrat special interest) want socialism, universal health care, and global governance. I personally don't think that is a good thing. Banks (big republican special interest) want more de-regulation and freedom to prosper. I think the bigger threat is the one that wants to transform our republic.

We are in our current economic mess because of the repub special interests.

We are in a global economy whether we like it or not.

Repubs support socialism too as well as global governance. I don't see the problem with having universal health care.

    Not excuses, just the truth.

Clinton signed the Community Reinvestment Act (which caused this mess). It was a bill designed by Republicans, but had huge bipartisan support.

We engineered the global economy. We outsourced jobs and closed factories and signed labor treaties with foreign countries in order to create a level playing field... globally. We intentionally hurt ourselves in order to uplift foreign countries. And yes, that has been bi-partisan too.

However, I believe the Republicans favored this due to business interests... like you say. Big business can make more money by outsourcing jobs and paying their employees in China $.05 for every $1.00 they had to pay them in America. Democrats favored it because they have been plotting for global governance for the past 150 years and this brought about mutually assured destruction, economically. If all economies are tied together, then there needs to be a global regulator.

Both are equally stupid and dangerous. One party acts for greed and the other acts for control.

The 2004-2007 housing boom goes WAY beyond the CRA. Slice and dice mortgage securities with no underwriting standards. Triple AAA ratings for 100% junk bonds.

Broad-brush generalizations serve no useful purpose. We should all concentrate on and advance specifics if we desire fundamental change.
