Hawaii accepts bid to Hawaii Bowl

So espn reports this morning that Hawaii has accepted a bid to the Hawaii bowl after a record of 7-2. Knowing that you have secured a WAC bowl game and would have dibbs on this game anyway, why would you accept the bid so early? Seems like it would kill team motivation for achieving something better.

Fine with me........ No motivation for the rest of the season and we might can jump them in the WAC standings. Just have to win out with Hawaii getting a loss.

EVERY year, The Rainblows know that all they need to do is get to 7 and they get another home game. They were popping Ginger Ale in the locker room the second they got their 7th win.

    Non-story here.

The only better bowl Hawaii can get is a BCS bowl... and that ain't happening this year...

With today's bowl contracts, teams can't wait for a better offer anymore because the only at-large spots are in BCS bowls...

This is one of the problems with the WAC, though. No flagship bowl. One of the things I like about C*USA is the tie-in with the Liberty Bowl. If we ever lost the LB, I would want us to step up with the Independence Bowl, Sun Bowl, or even the Armed Forces Bowl. *Something* to signify being conference champions. The WAC has always seemed to have a "home team" bowl system with Boise/Idaho for the Humanitarian, Hawaii for the Hawaii, and no doubt New Mexico State for the New Mexico if they were ever bowl-eligible. It makes perfect sense, but is uninspiring.

One pretty much has to be undefeated to get into a BCS bowl from a non-aq conference.
Either way, regional bowls will always pick a home favorite. It all about $$$.

The Hawaii bowl is sweet for visitors too. It's the only game on Christmas eve. Even if you lose, you're in Hawaii, man!! Enjoy the captive TV audience and good times.

    Aloha.

The Rainbow Warriors need the Hawaii Bowl, and the Hawaii Bowl needs the Rainbow Warriors. It is as simple as that, and they each support the other.

Maybe one day, the morons at the Independence Bowl will feel the same way with Tech, but unfortunately probably not...

Different situation. Attendance at the Hawaii Litter Bowl drops off 15K (announced) when the Rainblows aren't participating.

I-bowl attendance claims a DROP of 5K -8K when we were there in 2008.

It wasn't our fault that they picked Northern Illinois.

Yes it was. Dooley demanded it. Really, he demanded anybody but lafayette.
