Seems like she is making things a lot more difficult for herself by announcing this now. Why not wait until you actually start the procedures? I suspect the difficulities associated with announcing this is going to be much greater than keeping it to herself.
I am relieved to discover that we live in a world where gender is fluid, I could have sworn it was fairly static the vast majority of the time...
