The Newstar has a lot of updates. Apparently robbed bank, stole car, and the shooting.

This is all so sad, and not to make light of the subject, but all day yesterday they kept saying he shot an "elderly man." It turns out the man was all of 58!!! Someone in the KNOE comments spoke of him as an "old man." That just really irks me, as I'll be 60 next month and hope to heavens no one calls me "elderly" anytime soon. I was expecting it to be a 95-year-old man hobbling on his cane into Brookshire's. (The 95-year-old probably would be irked just like me.) I must admit, however, I enjoy my senior coffee and drink at McDonald's and Sonic.

I'm not sure I've ever seen so much misinformation reported about one event. TNS was the worst of all the media in screw ups.

Who knows what to believe when it comes to Monroe news reporters of any kind?

    From KNOE online:

Suspect Stephen Lane Salsbury Jr.'s crime spree began at a West Monroe townhome complex, continued with the robbery of a Chase Bank, and shot the victim, 58-year-old Garland E. Henley from West Monroe, at random in a nearby parking lot.

Heard from our Security Administrator at work that he took his life outside a bass pro shop in Oklahoma City this morning. Well, I guess they don't have to get the 3 hots and a cot ready for that guy. Good thing too, I already hate that my tax dollars pay for that.

I hate that he didnt just end it in West Monroe and leave innocent people alone. Have death wish? dont involve anyone else because more than likely they dont share the desire. I know the family of the man that was killed is feeling so empty now because they lost their loved one and now have no chance to see the jerk on trial.

i don't like that they will not get to see him on trial either. I don't think, however, that they would appreciate the guy sitting on death row for 3-5 years while their loved one is in the ground.
