TCU is headed to the Big East! (New York Daily News reports)

I like our chances. If Hawaii joins the Mountain West for football only, they will want to add two more teams out of this pool:

Utah State
UTEP
San Jose State
New Mexico State
Idaho

No way an east Texas team goes to the Mountain West without TCU in the fold. To me, Utah State and UTEP are no brainers with New Mexico State the only other one getting real consideration.

I wonder if UTEP would prefer the MWC over CUSA? I think they like playing Texas teams.

Hey, the MWC could invite us and just be WAC 2.0. This is starting to get silly at this point, to where the MWC is no better than the WAC was.

I think I would be calling them and the Big East and offering ourselves as football only members and calling up C-USA and offering ourselves up as non-football members (and let them know that we would still love to join for football too).

I would add Houston to that least and put them at even ground with Utah State. Boise State could lobby to have both Utah State and Idaho invited. If that happens, you can bet the Sun Belt will bring in New Mexico State. San Jose State is screwed.

I doubt Houston goes now that TCU is gone. I am sure that they would be high on MWC's list though. I am not sure UTEP goes either. What do you think the point of all this really is at this point? Are they just trying to basically trade SJSU and LaTech for UNLV and Air Force? The MWC is just becoming a mirror of ye olde WAC now...

Boise has made it quite clear that they dispise Idaho. No way they want to bring them along. Only way that would happen is if the Idaho legislature stepped in (think Texas or Virginia politics).

The MWC's biggest concern with expansion at this point will be their TV contract. They need in as many markets as they can get in. Neither Idaho nor New Mexico State accomplish that at all since Boise and New Mexico are already in the league. Utah State keeps the Mtn on Utah cable stations, UTEP brings the Mtn to El Paso and West Texas, and Hawaii puts the Mtn in the islands.

yep. But I would be whoring us out to anyone who would listen. If C-USA makes a move that doesn't include us it will be time to panic.

I don't see why the MWC wouldn't just invite Utah State and Tech at this point. The big knock on Hawaii was the travel issues, but they invited them anyway. Why not Tech?

Taking UTEP is best case scenario for Tech. I can see them taking UTEP over Utah State.

Non-Football. That is why Hawaii is in. They are football only. The problem for us is even though we are competitive with Hawaii for the most part we don't bring the football rep that Hawaii does. And we don't have anywhere as of yet to park our non-football sports.
