    Ty Cobb

    The other night on the MLB channel I caught the last 20 minutes or so of a program about how Babe Ruth helped bring the fans back after the "Black Sox" scandal of 1919. Toward the end they said that Ty Cobb, in over 11,000 at bats, only struck out 357 times. Averaged over his 24 seasons that comes to just less than 15 times a season!! I thought that was a truly amazing stat so I looked it up - and it is accurate.

    The media loved to hate him back in his playing days and it is even more PC to hate him now. He was the best ever all round player.

    I understand that he hated homeruns, preferred doubles.

    Supposedly brought his bat in to get a new one to match. Old one had an indention where he kept hitting the ball.
