Tyler is HORRIBLE with traffic! Didn't think I was going to get a block away in 35 minutes yesterday. Made it is 33 minutes.

Trying to go north south is the pits! However, the city has done a much better job with the new east west options.

Yeah, it was South Broadway that was the worst. Getting from Barnes and Noble to the Mall took over half an hour - almost across the street. That was the day before Christmas Eve. On Christmas Eve, it had calmed down a lot.

Saw the census and Tyler was up to about 98,000. With Smith County, it is close to 200,000 - with most of the growth going South to where I am. The East/West is better - you are correct. Also, South Broadway is really spreading on both sides, instead of just one main strip. The area on Old Jacksonville Hwy is really growing fast.

Can't help but think of Tyler as one giant suburb, though. No down town to speak of, so it feels like a suburb without a city. It just keeps spreading.

Traffic flow surveys have found that on any given day there are 250,000 people in Tyler. It is the E.Texas hub for the medical, legal and O&G (although not as much any more) community.
