    it's no wonder..

We can't get any fan support.

I grew up the biggest Tech fan there was. We had basketball and football season tickets for as far back as I can remember. I have had some awesome memories from Tech games. I loved Tech, and understood that we were the little dog in the fight, but we played hard through every game in every sport and throughout life the fight I saw in Tech's teams growing up motivated me.

Now, I've gone from extremely frustrated to not caring at all. I don't get up for home games. I don't get that sick feeling when we lose. The love for Tech athletics I once had is damn near gone completely.. and it's because I see us now as a bunch of guys (from top to bottom) that really don't care. As long as they have their job, they're fine with being mediocre to bad.

Call me what you want.. a quitter, loser, or just disappointing.. but that's what I call Tech athletics.

    Re: it's no wonder..

The old adage that it is darkest before the dawn is correct. To be a true fan, you never give up. If you stay on this message board and listen to the negativity at times, it can lead you to feeling like nothing good is happening. Things are not at their lowest. The MBB team has been an extreme disappointment thus far, but they always go on a big run. While not a great thing, it is something that will pump you up mid season, at least. WBB is gaining ground very slowly to be back at the top, but that takes a LOT of time to rebuild. The football program had a BRAND NEW COACH and the future is bright with Dykes. You have to give more than the first year on that. The conference situation is what it is. We have to wait for an opening. Big changes will be happening on the larger landscape and that will end up being very good for Tech.

You stick with it - no matter what. As a Saints fan all my life, I did that and it paid off FINALLY. I can tell you that through my 47 years, the victory is much sweeter when you have been through hard times.

Stick with it and it will pay off. Complain, get mad, get angry, spout off, but always stick by Tech and you will always be able to call yourself a true fan. You want to be there when the sweet success happens and it WILL HAPPEN! You will be able to say you were always there. Something that the bandwagon fans will never be able to say, even though we will welcome them too.

We could be in MUCH worse shape than we are athletically right now - MUCH WORSE..... If you are on a team (and you are on a team as a fan), you never give up. You always keep wanting more and fighting for more.

I have seen us in much worse shape than this and much better shape. Lived through it all. The good times are SO much better having experienced the down times. And, we aren't that down (except in MBB right now).

Hang in there.... The negativity on the board is affecting you. Take a week break, if needed. It will always draw you back, if you love Tech.

IMO, you've reached a very important point at which you realize that there is also real life beyond sports. Honestly, I think it's better to not invest yourself so much into wins and losses. Don't worry about the admin not caring. For every 1 negative story you hear out of the "insiders", there are at least 2 positive stories.

When fall comes back around and Tech starts winning again, you'll get that lovin' feeling back.

When the board gets negative like it is now, I still read, but I don't post as much. Doesn't mean I love Tech athletics any less. Just a board.

    Hang in there.

Ain't that the truth............ I just keep on going. Sometimes after a loss, I have to take a break from the board, because you would think the world had just ended. Fact is, Tech will be fine. Changes are needed, but more is happening than people are giving credit.

I always say: there is nothing about wins-losses in sports on my Tech diploma. At the top it reads: Non Sibi Sed Suis.

Maybe that means, no way will we ever join the Sunbelch! Or, maybe not...

Tech is the MIT of the South, baby!

I agree with what you said, but part of #1 on the list is disappointing... We actually fell in the USNWR rankings this year, but we are spinning it as the opposite because they changed the names of the tiers...
