Preferred Walk-On offer........

The Dallas Morning News just reported that LA Tech and UTSA have both offered "preferred walk-on" status to Texas District 8 5A MVP Hunter Lee. You may recall that he was one of the "un-recruited" high shool stars in north Texas that were talked about in the story that I posted on here last week.

A preferred walk-on can report to practice at the same time as the 85 scholarship players report in August. There can be a maximum of 10 preferred walk-ons.

Like a typical walk-on, do they still have to go through the Clearinghouse vetting process prior to walking on?

I'm sure out of state is definitely waived, and maybe his GPA is high enough to earn some sort of academic scholarships?

I watched this kid play 4 or 5 games this year and he is a baller. I hope we don't miss out on him. Flower Mound runs a very similar offense and puts a lot of points on the board.

I don't think he has committed anywhere yet, just an offer for preferred walk on I think?
