Thomas Bachman signed with Texas Tech as a WR when Coach Dykes was WR Coach at Texas Tech.

Brock Berlin was QB during his "redshirt freshman" and "redshirt sophomore" years.
Brent Rawls was QB during his "redshirt junior" year.
John David Booty was his QB during his "redshirt senior" year.

Bachman was one of those 19-year-old seniors.

IMO too much is made of the 19yr old and hold back issue. The only way a kid can play at 19 is if he is lucky enough for his birthday to fall just right. The majority of holdbacks are 18 which is the normal age of graduation anyway.

FWIW Bachman turned 19 in September of his senior year. In general, he was about a year and a half older than the average senior.

I've never had a problem with it. Nobody else did when holding back was done naturally rather than on purpose.

You don't have a problem with kids repeating 8th grade for athletic purposes?

Can't do that anymore. They changed that rule years ago. The hold back has to occur before grade 6 now. See the Hinton case. It was very interesting and surprisingly the LHSAA ruled correctly.

Back in the day when kids were actually failing high school grades and repeating nobody had a problem with it.

Some kids have failed 8th grade on purpose, but I don't think they allow that anymore either.

Just heard that Brad Bradshaw has been hired as Athletic Director, Defensive Coordinator and Assistant Head Coach of Crossett High School in Crossett, AR.

His "health problems" must have cleared up........:icon_wink:

    I agree. That's weird.

So......will his Head Coach will be working for him (he's AD)? Or will he (as Asst Head Coach and Def Coordinator) be working for his Head Coach?

Everything I am hearing at this point is that the HC is on his way out anyway. This just opens it up for Bradshaw to take over when the HC retires. As for his health problems clearing up, it was primarily his dad's health that was the issue. Crossett High is right down the road from his house, so it won't be hard to get back to take of his dad if the situation arises.

I never thought of Bradshaw being a HC, even when I played for him. I thought he was the DC that made the HC decisions. He was always in the defensive huddle on the sideline, hardly ever watching the offense. And his defenses were usually pretty good in turnover margin...
