Buc-ee's eyes Ruston location, seeks tax break | Ruston Daily Leader (rustonleader.com) / location to be on 84-acres North of 1-20 (across from Ruston Junior High / don't like that part).
I think I'd hold off on building any QT until I see what happens with Buc-ee's
i asked about this December 8 and got one response below (not sure how to post two quotes at a time). Apparently it was not just a rumor.
“No way on the Buc-ee's thing. Not even a QT is likely. When construction of Tarbutton began, there was talk of a "Texas Best" type setup there. Any "Pilot" type truck stop will be a huge mistake. A large convenience store/restaurant set up like this https://texasbestshop.com/ would be nice.”
If you read above you'll deduce that it is not the full size Buc-ees. My bad for not realizing there is a much smaller version of Buc-ees than those most of us have seen in Texas. A 50 acre location is being touted. It will still need some serious infrastructure improvement since it is being planned across from Ruston Jr. High.
I'm fine with Buc-cee's moving into Ruston, but they really need to get somewhere in mid-Mississippi. They better not be going to say that Ruston and East Birmingham are as close as they need to be to each other. The state of Mississippi is a barren wasteland when it comes to decent gas stations--especially in terms of clean bathrooms.
Just curious—why would that be different than the one on I20 in Terrill? On second thought, I thought you meant they wouldn’t want a second one in Mississippi. But i think you meant another one down the road from ruston to the east. That’s no different than one down the road on I20 to the west, is it? Lol, hope that made sense.
I would think Meridian or Hattiesburg would be good choices
Went into a Buc-cee's for the first time, the one in Terrell, this week. It's big...but other than that I don't see what all the fuss is about. It will probably do well in a Ruston location and bring some tax revenue to Ruston and Lincoln Parish, so that is good.
The area where it will be, across from Jr high, is actually 57 Acres. honestly dont think traffic will be an issue, never seen a major traffic cluster getting into Buc's anywhere i've been. now, on site, different story
now my thought is, maybe lincoln parish should find a different location for the JR high and sell that property. def going to be ripe for development once Buc's is there.
