A Non COVID-regulated Jason's Deli would be the only one worth going to.

You make some salient points. Three thoughts --

1) Franchise fees leave the community. I dont know a whole lot about this, but I've heard they're not insignificant. If you want to make the case that increased sales arising from brand recognition compensate for this ... ok, maybe it's a wash.

2) More importantly, chain restaurants do little to enhance a community's character as unique and distinct. If your place is like every other place, then there's no reason to go there. I hope Ruston aspires to be other than just Bossier or WM with a university.

3) These things are not mutually exclusive. A city can have franchise restaurants AND local joints and support both. Sometimes you want a farm-to-table bratwurst with artisanal goat cheese. And sometimes, you just crave a Whopper.

And your points are well-taken. Yes, it is best to have a nice mix of business types. My point was merely to point out it is erroneous to say franchises are NOT locally owned.

Ruston has good local. Support them. More important now than ever.

Give the one on Farmerville Hwy south of I-20 a try. I think it's better than the one on Tech Drive. Huddle House can be good but I've found it lacking in service if you're not a "regular".

That looked great on the Yelp app, but like you said, not opened on Sundays. There were several that looked promising including Log Cabin, Grown & Grazed and even Champ's Sports Bar. But as we drove around looking - nothing was open on Sunday mornings, except Waffle House. Granted Huddle House may be better, but we weren't smart enough to see that one until after we ate.

The McAllister's logo is now on the west end of the building in front of Walmart. Yea! The other two stores are Sally's Beauty and Bluff City Soaps, I believe.
