There are Mardi Gras parades in North Louisiana?

2 pretty big ones in Shreveport. Monroe has one. There are actually some mardi gras parades in East Texas. Or at least there have been in the past.

I'm not aware of any. E.Texas is heavier Protestant and not the "Eat, drink and be merry. For tomorrow you may die." type.

I haven't spent much time in North Louisiana. I still have the outdated image of Bible thumping protestants living in dry Parishes. Pretty smart of Shreveport to start their own and pull people in from the Dallas area.

I've seen plenty of that at the Shreveport parades.

Our sheriff here in Ouachita Parish spend $20,000 of his campaign monies last year for a float, throws, food, drinks etc.

yes, everyone drunk in cenla...24/7. and alexandria has a smaller saturday morning "children's parade" (please be sober) and sunday at 2 pm regular parade.
