UTA game
Anybody coming to the Dawgs vs. UTA?
I'm planning to stick around after work and go over there.

bump
Anyone going to make it to the game?

Re: UTA game
Should be a challenge. They already played then number 2 Oklahoma to a 1 run game and just upset number 9 TCU last night at home.

Re: UTA game
- TEXAS-ARLINGTON (9-7)
2010 RPI: 126
Starters Returning: 8
Weekend Starters: 0
Mid-Week Starters: 3
Key Relievers (20+inns.): 2
.
All Conference Candidates:
C Chad Comer (.289-5-48, just 3Es all season)
OF Preston Beck (.352, Freshman All American)
SS Jesse Payne (.306-6-33)
1B Jordan Vaughn (.314–3-30)
.
The Good News:
The Mavs had nearly nobody coming back last season, yet were still savvy enough to win 19 conference games. Good show. Now, with nearly all hands on deck in the field and the batting order, they hope to get more. Comer is one of the better backstops in the country and should hit even better in 2011. The defense was .961 last year, but could be outstanding, with Payne and 2B Cody Dyvig (.289 in part-time duty) making a sweet double-play combo. Beck had a 17-game hit streak last season and will team with Nick Orr (.248) to form a good defensive duo in the meadow.
.
The Bad News:
Mavericks can’t get out to another 5-10 start like last year. And now that I think of it, that piss-poor 4-11 finish wasn’t very good either. Don’t repeat either of them Mavs. Unfortunately, the pitching could be a real problem, with no returning weekend starters back and only one of the returnees having more than 15 innings of work to their name – that being mid-week starter Mark Picca (2-6, 8.28). Losing Team USA stud OF Michael Choice is huge, since he led the team at .383 and was nearly the only power source on the squad. Some new arms will need to step up huge for any hope of a 30-win season.
.
Schedule Note:
Pride of Texas.
The Mavs will only spend two weekends this year away from their home state, going to Nicholls State and Central Arkansas in Southland play. Other than that, the opening weekend at Houston will be a big early test as will the midweek games against the likes of Wichita State, Oklahoma and TCU in the first month of the season.

Re: UTA game
Three of us are going to fight the traffic after work from Flower Mound......hope that huge batch of chocolate chip/oatmeal cookies Debbie made for the team will get us back in the win column.

Re: UTA game
AG_Jr's new job is sending him to Fort Worth for training today, so he'll be stopping there and enjoying some TECH baseball in the meantime.

Re: UTA game
For those coming in for the game, there is a decent sandwich place right by the stadium called Atomic Subs. A Fuzzy's Tacos right around the corner (on Abram I think). And a pretty good noodle shop off Cooper.

Re: UTA game
Dogs down 8-6 in the 4th.

Re: UTA game
Lost 11-6? I think I saw that on Facebook. Poor pitching again. I know it is midweek, but I know we are trying to find guys who can perform.

Re: UTA game
It wasn't what I'd call pretty for the most part. Good chance to watch my Dawgs though - and my daughter's first Bulldog game of any kind (she lasted all of an inning and a half).
