    Chris Boniol's Kick Ties 1990 I-Bowl

Sorry the video is not that good. Since I attended the game I had to set the VCR at the slowest (worst) speed in order to record the entire game.

Great time was had by all!

When we fell behind 34-31 on that 4th down play.....Ugh! I would have been happy with a tie....which, in the end, was okay. But! we moved into Maryland territory fairly easily(Baker's KO return!) and should have gone for the win....IMO. Gene Johnson ran the ball a couple of times and after gaining some yards, went down and the clock ran, and Tech was in no hurry to stop it, etc... it was obvious that JRP was playing for the tie. And, that's okay, but we did have some time to try to win it.

But, it was a record Indy Bowl crowd. An exciting game! Big time college football, that capped an exciting season for the Dawgs. (coming off that Colorado State game).

The game was great as was the atmosphere surrounding the bowl.

Fond memories of a time when I thought tech was on their way up - before reneau crushed my dreams.

My first bowl game ever. Had an awesome time! If Shaw was there we beat them for sure.

I was there, too. I remember being really excited when he made the field goal, and then being a little sick at my stomach that the dawgs didn't win the game. Like someone said before me, it was a little like kissing your sister.

I think that may have been the only time I have ever felt happy and sad at the same moment.

Kissing your sister is never and should never be fun. I was there and I still think we should have gone for the win. 21 years later does anyone really care if we tied or lost, but if we had won, different story.

I don't know what all the complaining is about. I have really enjoyed kissing all of your sisters.

Actually, I don't have a sister, but it gets my point across that kicking a field goal to keep from losing isn't as much fun as kicking one to win.

For example the wounded duck extra point that barely cleared the uprights to beat Alabama in Birmingham was lots of fun!

JRP did not want to kick the FG either. He just didn't want to lose more.
