It would never ever ever happen but talk about a way to make a splash and get people talking about the program. I also think Knight is still a damn good coach and would get a team into the tourney if he ever decides to coach again.

Coaches like Knight know that it takes resources to build a good program these days. I agree that he still has the ability to get the job done, but would he want to take on a rebuilding project at his age? Same for Pearl and others. Maybe Tim Floyd, but he just started the UTEP job, and I don't know if he would leave this soon.
I played against Chad McDowell during summer leagues in high school. Southwood was awesome in those days and Chad was easily the smartest player on the floor even though he was probably the least athletic. I also didn't hurt that he had Paul Marshall and Antonio Robinson to toss the ball to.
Best of luck to Coach Rupp, and I hope Mr. Van deVelde does a good job with this hire.
McDowell may very well be the best candidate for the job, but I would like to see who else applies for the position before giving it to him. We might just be surprised at who is interested.

Boxer for associate HC/guard coach
Jay for assistant coach/recruiting coordinator/bigs coach
CChandler for grad assistant (hoping he can pull some strings at Los Alamos to use the supercomputer to run some code that breaks down film)
MilDawg for scouting coordinator (I understand he knows a thing or two about gathering and interpreting information)
DfM for referee relations
His Knowledge of BB is limited (ie, Magnum Rolle has more skills than anyone in Tech history)
I go for Boxer as HC, CC as Asst and DFM for AD.
I could name a few who have called me today.
