Has Spoon been so successful as a coach that she deserves an extension and a raise?
Has Spoon been so successful as a coach that she deserves an extension and a raise?
Good old Memorial Gym
You bet she's been that successful!!!
SPOON WINS:
Her two full seasons at Tech have been 24- 8 and 23 - 8 with two for two in getting us back to the NCAA's. She was something like 7 - 1 (taking a 14 - 11 team)
in the few weeks she finished as interim head coach the year before that, after 16 -15 and 17-13 Longs last two years.
SPOON IS RECOGNIZED:
This year Spoon was selected by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association as the Region 7 Coach of the Year. (selected in some of the other 6 regions were names such as Auriemma, Summit, Mulkey: ever heard of them?) Last season Spoon was selected by WBCA as National Rookie Coach of the Year.
SPOON'S TEAM ARE FUN TO WATCH:
After a few years of losing fans in the boring doldrums under Long and Budke, the PASSION IS BACK in Lady Techster basketball. The energy and grit and GATA defense that we've loved so many years are back under Spoon.
I could go on and on about Spoon's achievements and accomplishments, but this summary ought to give the big picture!!! How are we coming on the raise and extension Mr. BVDV?
And thanks for asking Tech77.
And she's starting to put major butts in the seats of the TAC!!! I think some of these guys, us included, are just upset and jealous that this hasn't happened to the men's program. We would all die for this to happen to our Dunkin Dawg program. Hopefully we are headed there now.
You have got to be attempting to stir the pot.
Has Spoon been successful enough? How many years were the Techsters absent of the NCAA Tournament? Too damn many.
Hell yes! Give her a giant raise & lock her into a long-term contract. She is the best thing to happen to Lady Techster Basketball since DR & the "Athletic Council" screwed KM.
That woman has a love for the game, has been successful at the highest level & has a passion for LA Tech. Give her two more years of all of her recruits & we are back.
I think she deserves a small raise and a 1 year extension, next year and the next will seperate the shaft from the wheat with this program....
''Don't be a bad dagh..."
That's actually separate the wheat from the chaff. We do want to avoid Coach Spoon "getting the shaft", 60's and 70's slang for being cheated or given a bad deal. She's a winner and is 100% TECH through and through and has earned an extension/raise. Losing Spoon through lack of a diligent effort to keep her would be giving us fans the shaft and athletics could put bushels of wheat in my seat 'cause I would'nt be there.!!
Whatever -
It's women's basketball....
She deserves an extension and a small raise in my book, nothing more nothing less -
Next year if she makes the NCAAs with the returning crew and new additions then we can look at a more substantial extension and raise
''Don't be a bad dagh..."
So they've been "looking to extend" since the first post on March 25. Have they done anything yet or are they still "looking to"?
If you take the attitude of "Whatever - It's women's basketball", I don't think you are a fan, anyway.
Spoon has brought back pride more than any coach on the Tech campus. For those of us that DO like WBB, we need to support it and let the administration know. The support in the seats this year shows that there are more stepping up. Spoon deserves it. There is no question about that.
