Re: 4/11 WNBA Draft
Any word on where she might go. I haven't seen her name on any of the projection lists but I know that still doesn't rule out her signing with a team afterward.

Re: 4/11 WNBA Draft
Congrats Adrienne! We are so proud of you!
The great thing about getting drafted by Connecticut is that they didn't have a first round pick, and they selected point guard Sydney Colson in the second round. She has a great shot at making the roster! Last year Washington selected a post in the first round, which made it difficult for Shanavia to make the roster.

"It has always been a childhood dream to be drafted and play in the WNBA. Once your name is called, it's a huge feeling of relief. Now it's a dream come true."
"I had talked to Connecticut (before the draft)," Johnson said. "They had the 16th overall pick but they took (Sidney Colston) for trade reasons. I got nervous; real nervous, but I didn't lose faith. I trust Coach (Teresa) Weatherspoon. I knew she had talked to (Connecticut)."
While her teammates, coaches, family and friends talked and ate, Johnson stayed focused on her cell phone as she skyped with her mother Yvonne who is currently hospitalized in Houston undergoing treatments for her ongoing battle with skin cancer.
"It was nice," said Johnson, referring to being able to share the moment with mother through technology. "I'm glad we could see each other through skype. It was like she was here even though she wasn't."
The WAC Player of the Year and honorable mention all-America candidate said that during her phone conversation with Connecticut coach Mike Thibault following her selection, he told her that she would be playing the three position at the next level.
"This is a kid we had targeted for several weeks in the draft as fitting a need we had for an athletic, active forward who can play outside and inside," Thibault said. "She's had an impressive career at Louisiana Tech. She got better every year, and she's got a chance to come in and compete for a spot on our team. There are two jobs to compete for, and she'll have an opportunity to win one if she does a good job in training camp."
"I saw (Johnson) play on tape and she kind of reminds me of Swin Cash," said Rebecca Lobo. "She's got some size and runs the floor well. She's a three with size who has a really good wing span and who can hit the three-point shot. This is a player who can compete for a roster spot at Connecticut."
Johnson becomes the 21st Louisiana Tech player to be drafted or sign a free agent contract in the WNBA as she will head to the northeast in less than a month to begin training camp with the Sun - a team that posted a 17-17 record last year.

Louisiana Tech's Adrienne Johnson and Nevada's Tahnee Robinson were selected in the 2011 WNBA Draft. Johnson was selected 28th overall by the Connecticut Sun, while Robinson was picked 31st by the Phoenix Mercury and then traded to the Sun.
The 2011 WAC Player of the Year, Johnson averaged 21.9 points and 9.4 rebounds per game as a senior. She was on the Wade Trophy Watch List, was an honorable mention All-American by the Associated Press and the WBCA, was a first team all-WAC selection and was named to the WAC All-Defensive Team.
Robinson ranked ninth nationally with 22.1 points per game. She was also 16th in the nation in three-pointers per game (2.8) and 19th in three-point percentage (41.5). She was also one of five finalists for the Sullivan Award, given to the nation's top amateur athlete. Robinson was named WBCA all-region, first-team all-WAC and to the WAC Tournament team.

University of Nevada women's basketball senior Tahnee Robinson has become the school's first-ever player drafted by the WNBA Monday. Robinson was selected as the 31st overall pick in the draft by the Phoenix Mercury, but has been immediately traded to the Connecticut Sun.
Robinson becomes the first full-blooded Native American player drafted in the league. She is descended from several tribes with her mother Pawnee and Eastern Shoshone and her father Northern Cheyenne and Sioux. Her family still lives on the Wind River Reservation in Fort Washakie, Wyo., the same reservation where she grew up.

“Adrienne Johnson is a 6-foot-1 forward who can play three (small forward), played four (power forward) in college,” Thibault said of Johnson. “She plays both. She’s very athletic.”
The 2011 WAC Player of the Year, Johnson averaged 22 points and 9.5 rebounds per game, reaching double figures in 30 of 31 games with 14 double-doubles. She had 30 points and 11 rebounds in an upset of Georgia on December 29th, and led the Lady Techsters in scoring 25 times.
“It’s great,” Johnson said of having the chance to play in Connecticut. “I’m very anxious to get up there. I’ve never been to Connecticut, but I hear it’s a very nice place…The whole day, I was really anxious, and it was an intense feeling of relief (to get drafted). It’s a dream come true.”
