    LHSAA 3A/4A Baseball State Championships

Held this Friday and Saturday (May 13-14) at JC Love Field. Should be some pretty good baseball. Big for the city of Ruston and big for Tech.

West Ouachita High will also be playing in the 4A semifinals. It would be great for Ruston if we could have a WOHS/Ruston final.

Strange ending to the 4A game. St. Michael's was down 9-3 headed to the last inning. Pinch hit for the guy leading off the inning. Pinch hitter gets a double, and they pinch run for him. They cut the lead to 9-8 with men on first and third with 2 outs. At this point they have batted around...St. Michael's coach talks to the home plate ump. The pinch hitter who led the inning off, but got pinch ran for, hits a single to tie the game. St. Louis' coach comes out and talks to the ump. Umps get together, then talk to the guy in charge of the umpires and Kenny Henderson. This took probably about 30 minutes. They eventually call the batter out, and St. Louis wins 9-8. I have to admit I don't know the rules when it comes to substitutions in high school baseball, but I felt really bad for those kids.
