Yeah, this stuff is happening all over LA. It's tough to justify keeping doors open and running buses every day in the rural communities when some of these schools graduate less than 20 seniors. Not to mention all the unfunded mandates from the state and feds. Jindal wants a state full of charter schools and he's well on his way to making it happen.

The Sarepta area's population is a bit better, but the federal court mandates are an undeniable issue for any school that is heavily weighted toward any one race. Jones and Stewart elementary schools were predominently minority and both have been closed and that community isn't very happy either.

Its a bitter pill for sure.
There were kids from Springhill going to Sarepta.

It is not just charter schools he wants, he would like for all schools to be privatized charters. The state would in this scenario, pay no retirement, benefits, etc. on behalf of any school employee. As the story was told to me, when he realized how much money the state was saving on the redistricted schools that were privatized, he had a vision of turning the whole state education system into such a system. While it would be a savings to the tax payers, what happens to all the kids that are not accepted by these charters? Additionally, if that is what he wants to do, just say that is what he wants to do.
