    $3000.00 a Night

Earlier this week the man who would have probably been the next president of France on the socialist ticket was arrested for sexual assult here in the U.S. This is a tragic event I do not want to take away from, but I have another question that is not being discussed very much. The attack took place in his exclusive hotel room that apparently cost several thousand dollars a night. This is a fine example of why socialism is a great deal if you are the right socialist!

Kind of like how most Democrat politicians are tax cheats, but love to raise OUR taxes.

    Re: $3000.00 a Night

I wonder how many times Obama has had former International Monetary Fund leader Dominique Strauss-Kahn overnight at the White House?

"Authorities were able to match a DNA sample taken from Strauss-Kahn with semen on the shirt, law enforcement officials told the Wall Street Journal. Someone briefed on the ongoing investigation confirmed to FoxNews.com that Strauss-Kahn's DNA was found on the maid's uniform.
Strauss-Kahn, who is out on $1 million bail, faces sexual assault charges in the alleged attack.
Sources told FoxNews.com that the 32-year-old African immigrant repeatedly told her alleged attacker, “Please, please stop. No!”

First, he was head of IMF - how could Obama not have him over? He was integral in helping keep a complete collapse of the global economy from happening.

Second- Fox & CNN oversaturation of this outweighs any percieved of underreporting from anyone else. It's a big deal, but not so huge that real news should be neglected. Isn't one of tr complaints about media in general how sensationalized they are on everything and never report anything worth a damn?

Two wrongs don't make a right. I would expect Obama to have interaction with the president of the IMF. In fact, I would wonder why he didn't if he didn't. I would also expect him to be nice and have fun when they are together. So, I don't want to see any pictures like that with my President. The president of the IMF is accused of this sex act, not the President of the United States.

As for the "media," they are walking dead. I pay them no mind.

Please. Only 3K a night, heck that fits right into Newt's and Sarah's budget.

It is hard for me to get a grasp on just how rich some people are. I may be all wet, but this seems to me that this is a relatively new phenomenon in history for private people to get so disproportionately rich than the average person. Before any of you get your panties in a wad, I'm not complaining. I am the biggest believer in the free market there is. It just seems to be something new. With the ancients, the difference between the very rich and the poor was more like five times even in the few free markets that existed then. Now, the difference is almost infinite. A $3,000 per night room is too much for a millionaire. You have to be a gozillionaire to get a room like that. $1,500 tickets to a Yankees game. You have to have untold wealth to buy those tickets. It is so much money that I literally can't get my mind to grasp the concept.

I have very little doubt that the whole world has benefited greatly during the time the two societies that provided the greatest freedom were the world's powers, ancient Greece and the United States. The poor in the United States live better than aristocrats did in less free societies. I just wonder what has happened that has caused this explosion of ultra-rich people who can afford to become liberals because they no longer need the free markets that got them there.

Yep, 3,000 a night, no checks, no balances. I could imagine myself staying at a 3,000 dollar hotel on my CenterPoint card. Not only would have to reimburse 2,700 of it (guessing 300 would get you a decent room in NY), I would probably be canned. Yep, no checks or balances, and no one cares because there are no real budgets to be met or money to be made. They can just steal it.

The $3,000/night number for the hotel room is suspect.

"... Stories from the French media have hooked the fare of the lavishness suite where Kahn was staying at $3,000 per night, even as some US statements put the fare at only $525 per night. Sofitel's website brings up its numerous room fares within US$251 to395 per night."

Your actually complaining about the media doing some responsible reporting (or non-reporting as the case may be)? Doesn't matter if it is a double standard, call it when it actually is a double standard. Nothing here yet rises to that occasion.

Just so I make myself clear. I do not care how much any individual pays for anything. There is nothing wrong with spending money if you have it. This is definitely not a new phenomenon. I can assure you that when Mary and Joseph could find no room at the inn there was some guy at the end of the hall with cable and a Jacuzzi. My only point is that this points out one of the fundamental flaws with socialism. Everyone will always be equal, but some will always be much more equal than others!
