Vitter....
"This was a very serious sin in my past for which I am, of course, completely responsible," Vitter said Monday in a printed statement. "Several years ago, I asked for and received forgiveness from God and my wife in confession and marriage counseling. Out of respect for my family, I will keep my discussion of the matter there with God and them. But I certainly offer my deep and sincere apologies to all I have disappointed and let down in any way."
Weiner....
In an interview Wednesday, Rep. Anthony Weiner said he could not say "with certitude" that a photo of man's crotch posted to Twitter -- a picture that has become the center of a small-scale media storm -- was not, in fact, a photo of him.
He said he had retained a private security firm to look into the matter, but had not referred it to Capitol police or the FBI because he does not want to "make a federal case" over it.
"I'm not sure it rises, no pun intended, to that level," Weiner told interviewer Luke Russert. "The implication here is that I did something wrong to someone else. I was the victim of a prank here," he said. "Im not sure that theres anything more here than just a little bit of silliness."
He was also asked by Russert about why he follows a number of young women on Twitter. "People don't simply understand that one of the things that goes on on Twitter is that you form networks with other people as a way of getting more followers," Weiner said.
