The Man Responsible For The BCS Thinks The College World Series Is Unfair
Big Ten Commissioner Jim Delany has never been to the College World Series. With good reason. A Big Ten team has not reached this 8-team, final round of the NCAA Tournament since 1984.
In a long-ranging interview with the Omaha World-Herald, Delany complains about the relative unfairness of college baseball, particularly when it comes to his conference.
I saw that.
You've got to give him this much, if that guy is pushing for something, at least you know it's only about helping his conference. At least you always know who he's looking out for.

"Fairness" only matters when he thinks it could work for them. When the fairness argument runs the other way, it's about brand names and money. When that doesn't favor them, it's about tradition. When that doesn't help, it's about being open to new things.
It is funny how whiney he is about this though.

The NCAA has already pushed the baseball season out as far as it should be pushed not starting until the third weekend in February instead of the first weekend in February. And the regular season has been shortened by number of games as much as possible.
If Delany doesn't like the weather, he should use Big Ten resources to help his conference schools build domed baseball facilities. Otherwise he should shut the **** up.
What about hockey? How many SEC schools have won the NCAA Frozen Final Four?
They don't even care about college baseball up there. Nebraska's the only team that broke the top 44 in attendance this year, and they're not even a member yet. If it's so unfair to them, let them drop it.
Delany wouldn't know about that either....Big Ten schools play hockey in the WCHA and CCHA since only 5 of the 11 schools have sponsored the sport. Penn State is joining in though, so a 6-team Big Ten hockey conference is possible by 2013-2014.
Wahhhhh. The Big Ten doesn't get fair treatment. That doesn't play very well to us "NON AUTOMATIC QUALIFIERS."

I have had to listen to him the past several months about this. His comment about not even visiting the CWS in Omaha sums up his true ignorance on the baseball topic. Clueless...
