dont know how much of that was true.
I remember towards the end of his career reading an article (maybe when he went to Jax) where he admitted that he was always in Cowher's doghouse because of knuckleheadedness but felt he had grown up. By that time, it was too late for him I think.

Which is why many of us were not impressed with Dykes' so-called "high octane" offense. We've seen true high performance offensive engines.
My all-time favorite Troy Edwards story is that he played intramural flag football during his prop year. This was before I was there, but I always chuckle thinking about some random chump like me trying to cover a guy that could/did make top-shelf NCAA corners look stupid.

I played flag football against Todd Kinchen when I went to the LSU football camp in HS. Not only could no one get his flag... they couldn't even touch him. If it was 1 hand touch, he would have still scored every play. It was an eye-opening experience for me.

Not sure what he does but he lives in the Grand Prarie/Arlington area of D/FW. I don't know him but some of the friends I used to work with do. They say he is a nice guy. Maybe he stopped flipping people off. (or maybe he just doesn't like Dwayne!!! )

Well he is one of the best players to ever come from TECH and maybe you should just let it go?

Rrrrr i g h t, because it was the offense we were running not the fact that it was his first year here or the fact that we had Jenkins/Cameron/Ensminger/Hakmi instead of Rattay or Gru/Ikharo instead of Edwards. :icon_wink:

Is it not the head coaches job to get the players?

Just so I am understanding you correctly, you expected Dykes, after just being hired to come in late in the recruiting season and recruit a kid that could perform at a Troy Edwards type of level during his true freshman year?? I just want to make sure we are on the same page here because taken in it's context that sounds like what you were saying.

BTW-- If you ARE being serious, could you please tell me how many Receptions/Yards/TD's that Troy had during HIS true freshman year?

I bet he had a ton. They just weren't in JAS.

Troy never had a True Freshman year! But Dykes did have three SEC transfers and solid O Line. In Crowtons first year he did not have that much talent on the field! Jason Martin and a hand full of Joe Raymonds players who were not at the level of what Sonny was given. I just do not see any Troy Edwards or Tim Rattay type players in the Pipe Line. However we are in year two of the Sonny D experiment and I think things are looking Better. I have also not seen the new True Freshman QB that I think will be the starter before the end of the year. I myself wish Taylor Burch would pick football and be given a equal shot at the QB spot.
