Who are (were) Jenkins, McFarland, Nielson, Caruthers, etc.... that buildings were named for 'em?
    Caruthers Hall:

According to one of the Alumni newsletters, Caruthers Hall is named after the Caruthers family. I can't confirm it, but I believe the building was named in honor of John D. Caruthers, Sr., a Tech graduate in 1927. His son, John D. Caruthers, Jr. is a Tech graduate from 1950 and served as the first President of Tech's Alumni Foundation. John Jr. was also the main organizer of the Spirit Park near Davison Hall.

Lots of Caruthers still in Ruston. Went to Cedar Creek with a couple of them. Wonder if it is the same family.

They are orginally from Lisbon in Claiborne Parish, so it would make sense that some would migrate to Ruston or Cedar Creek. John D, Jr. lived in Shreveport and ran a sizable oil & gas company for years. I am not sure how many kids he had or where they are now.

John, Sr. and his partner E.T. Oakes brought in the discovery well of the Lisbon Field in 1936 marking the first oil well in that oil field. I'm guessing that was the foundation of the oil and gas company.

That makes sense, because that is also who Jim Oakes is working with now.

When I was a kid, my Dad worked at Claiborne Gasoline, which was part of that group of companies, as well. It was a refinery located outside of Lisbon on the road to Bernice, just before the parish line going east.
