Take a look at the new roster. Whitney Jones is still on it!!! Reina Kempt is no longer on it. The signee from last year, Brittany Hardy is back on the roster also. Kadee Malone is listed as a RS freshman.

You count scholarships, not active players. Redshirting doesn't change the scholarship limits.
I looked it up and D1 is allowed 13 scholarships. I guess we have a couple of the 15 listed paying their own way. So, as long as we only have 13 on scholarship, can we have 15 players on the bench if we so desire? Or do we have to not suit up two players? Don't see any reason to suit up 15 players, just trying to understand how it all works.
Malone is not on scholarship, I am sure.

We are going to be deep, regardless. I hope to see our younger players really step it up this year. We can, at least, thow fresh bodies in the game a whole lot more and with the up tempo/in your face game of Spoons, that is needed.

It really is! I am excited to see the recruits and see how our returning players have develoved their game. We are going to be young, but VERY fast and VERY aggressive. I think us being around during the domination years made us all take it for granted some. When we break back into the top 25 and, then, the top 10, it will be exciting all over again. Plus, it will bring in a whole new crowd - which is very needed.
I am very excited also. I live in Houston and I am even more excited for the recruiting possibilities( exposure from playing in Texas ) for the Lady Techsters with the addition of the Texas schools to the WAC. Texas is a great recruiting base for women's basketball. You may not get the Tier one players but TSpoon can make great ones out of the Tier 2 players. Who knows maybe Spoon waited to make her decision on her new assistant coach until the announcement was made about UTA (just my opinion). A good assistant with Texas roots can only help the recruitment / rebuilding process.
I want to see us expand our recruiting more into Texas, but I don't think UTA will help at all. However, Spoon should have great connections there already. Tough competition there, though. We have been having great success with Mississippi and Arkansas. Spoon is a national entity in WBB, so I don't see that any state is off limits. :icon_wink:
Wow! How can Whitney Jones be back on the roster? (But I'm not complaining.) She's already played 4 seasons at LA Tech and one at Baylor. According to her bio, she's played in 103 games for the Lady Techsters (started 102) and 8 games for Baylor. She's also 24 years old. This should give her a huge "maturity" edge over most of the girls.

We're also going to have a lot of EXPERIENCE on this team. The 3-way combination of Young-Jones-Bendolph have played in a combined 279 games for the Lady Techsters to date. That's a lot of college basketball experence.
