Welcome home 4th Brigade, 10th Mountain Division!
The 4/10 is arriving at Fort Polk this week. Well, they are coming in by units, battalions and special companies. Some are home already, the rest in route.
Job well done!
Welcome home, heros!
US returns Saddam's palaces to Iraqi Government.

"All roads lead to Putin" -- Thomas Jefferson
U.S. is out.
Another sit and wait.
Yes.
Removing Saddam was tactically retarded. Supporting a democracy in a country that is primarily Shia is equally retarded. The U.S. and Britain never supported Saddam because he was a nice guy, he was a Sunni counterweight; and the only thing that Shia and Sunni Muslims hate more than Americans are each other.
An Iranian backed Muqtada al-Sadr will have complete control over that country in 24 months. Iran and Iraq account for about 8% of the World's oil production. Hopefully Sadr will like selling oil to us more than stirring the pot.
Civil war looms. And it'll be nasty.
Removing Saddam was "tactically retarded" only if you were in a hurry to leave after removing him. We are still occupying Germany from WW2, but for some reason we are in a big rush to get out of an area where we need a presence. That, as you say, is where we are really tactically retarded.
Heck, let's get the 36000 troops we have completely out of South Korea too. Nothing happening there....mission accomplished.
U.S. presence in Germany is preventing another Hitler from rising. As unlikely as that seems, Western and Central Europe are slowly starting to embrace borderline fascism because of what has happened the last few years. Germany would be at the head of it if not for getting their ass kicked and largely remaining a conquered nation.
Also, war with Germany was a lot worse than anything done over the last decade.
And let's not forget about Russia...
We are only in a cease fire with North Korea. No end of hostilities yet.
I have heard, from a reliable source, that our presence in Korea is NOT to prevent the North from attacking, but rather to keep South Korea from attacking the North. I admit, that is not a scenario I have previously considered.
This entire discussion (even tho it's not about Tech football and some don't want us to post about anything else) shines the light on the STUPIDITY that is Ron Paul. The US must, MUST! police the world else we'll be dragged into one major conflict after another and talk about expensive! It's far easier(and cheaper) to prevent a truck from rolling down a hill, than it is to stop it once it's barreling along.
Total conjecture as far as another Hitler rising. Germany is part of Nato now, and in the EU. Personally, I think the US is starting to embrace fascism as well.
OK, so from the perspective of Iraq, let's not forget about Iran and Syria.
We should not have pulled out of Iraq.
It's an informed opinion. Being members of the UN and EU means nothing. That line tells me you haven't paid attention to anything going on.
Iran has a reasonable chance to attack U.S. interest overseas. Syria not so much. We are have bases in Kuwait, Qatar, Turkey, and elsewhere in the region to watch both.
There's a lot we shouldn't and should have done in Iraq.

Rather presumptuous, don't you think?
No, I guess you're the only one with an opinion that matters. Jeesh!
