Yes, that is good exemption. Do anyone else hear that the Boehner plan did away with the mortgage interest deduction? I think that is a excellent ideal, why artificially inflate home prices even more

The name calling from the fringes, right and left, does nothing but turn moderates off to either party. The only chance the Republicans have to win the White House is to select a moderate to run. Bachman or Palin have no shot at all, one reason is they label every democrat a progressive socialist. On the other extreme, you have the liberal democrats labeling every Republican as a right-wing racist teabagger. There is no line in the sand for moderates but I do believe most moderate want a more fiscally responsible government.

And if they do that, they lose a healthy portion of their base.

Dividends are taxed as ordinary income, typically. Capital gains occur when an asset is sold, if held at least for the minimum time required to qualify.

You speak as if you, yourself, are a moderate. Your comments in this thread certainly suggest otherwise.

No not at all, someone that believes in fair taxation is now a liberal? I don't know too many liberals that want a national sales tax.

Uhhh, most of them would love it. But only if you found a way to excuse the poor from paying it and have the rich pay double.
