The riots in Great Brittain highlight the fundamental problem with socialism and the welfare state. Once you have a significant percentage living off the government for a period of time, they come to see their government subsidies as a right. If the government is not going to take from the productive members of society to subsidize their pitiful lives, they will take matters into their own hands, all while truly believing that they have the moral right to do so. After all, liberal politicians have been telling them for years that the rich guy down the street is the cause of their destituteness.
