When I was in school it just went to 4A. The top 32 in 4A, the next 32 in 3A, etc.

Problem was schools like mine that tended to be ranked right about 31st in enrollment would be waaaaaaaaaaay smaller than the biggest of the big schools.

But even though the new 7A/6A thing was totally pushed through by schools like Sylvan Hills, I still liked it better the other way. 16 schools is too small for a classification.

Except that there is a lot of movement between these classifications. Not so much in college football (although there is some).

It's not as nice as some Texas schools, but it's pretty good HS football stadium.

There is a big difference in enrollment of 7A and 6A. Yes they could combine them, but schools like Conway is huge vs El Dorado.

The smallest school (not counting LR Catholic at 939, they always play up) in 7A is West Memphis at 1335. The biggest school in 6A is Van Buren at 1305.

Conway has 2061 students and El Dorado 1038. I was shocked that Bentonville is the largest school in the state at 2417.

West Memphis is 7A but they play in 6A football. I think because of travel.

    The conference are set like
    7A West
    7A Central
    6A South
    6A East

    West Memphis Schedule

    2011-09-02 Forrest City
    2011-09-09 Blytheville
    2011-09-16 Fort Smith Southside
    2011-09-23 Little Rock Hall
    2011-09-30 Marion
    2011-10-07 Searcy
    2011-10-14 Jonesboro
    2011-10-21 Mountain Home

    Re: El Dorado (AR) Football

At the top classification it's always a challenge because outside of the clusters in the NW and Central parts of the state, you've got big schools that are really isolated.

When I was a sophomore and junior the 4A Central was all LR area schools, Conway, and then poor Mountain Home.

Then we moved to the East, where you had four centralish teams and four NEish teams.

Interesting. I was just going by the website. Is there another school playing up to even out the conferences?

7A West Memphis plays in 6A-East

    6A Russellville plays in 7A-Central
6A Van Buren plays in 7A-Central

Van Buren located in NW Arkansas has to be in 7A-Central because 7A-West is full

The superintendent of the Eldorado schools is Bob Watson, a former 6-10 bulldog basketball player from the late 60's. Bob didn't start but was a fovorite of the fans because iof his hustle and enthusiasm and would sometimes get a standing ovation when he entered the game.

Should we mention that this facility was largely designed by a LOUISIANA TECH graduate?
