High-octane offenses have been a staple of Conque's career, as the Bears have finished in the Top 10 nationally in passing offense five times and scoring offense in four seasons. As offensive coordinator at Louisiana Tech in 1999, the Bulldogs ranked first in the nation in passing offense at 403 yards per game, and were second in the nation in total offense.

Conque spent seven seasons at Louisiana Tech from 1993-99, serving as offensive coordinator, running backs coach, special teams coordinator and recruiting coordinator. During his time in Ruston, the Bulldogs produced eight NFL draft picks and scored two wins over Alabama and also knocked off Mississippi State and the University of California.
