A lot of reaction Wednesday morning to Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky's interview with Don Wade and Roma.
Schakowsky said that Americans don't deserve to keep all of their money because we need taxes to support our society.
She also believes that problem with the stimulus failure was that it wasn't enough!!!
It's idiots like her in office that demonstrate how close we are to becoming another Venezuela .... and my older brother and his wife still can't see thru this crap .... it's embarrassing.
Wow. I agree with her that taxes are necessary and we are obligated to pay taxes and not keep all of our income. But the problems is that we need to discuss how big the government should be.... how much money does the government deserve? They are so far in debt that they now want to start taking more in tax revenue because they have been so irresponsible with tax revenues. I think her point was that Americans should support their government regardless of how irresponsible they are. I think they need to manage the revenues better with the current tax rates.

The government doesn't deserve anything. The government is simply a vehicle that we citizens use to address specific needs that we collectively determine should be addressed; nothing more. If we collectively determine that we want no defense, no municipal codes and no safety nets, then we have the right to pay no taxes. If we collectively determine that we want to make no individual decisions, then we have the right to pay 100% in taxes. This is the social war that is being waged.

But, we also have to live in a system of consensus. Otherwise, there would be total anarchy that would adversely affect all of us. I might think "we" are spending too much on one program, and maybe not enough on something else. There are ways I can influence change, by rallying like-minded people to join me in a political push to affect change. And even then, I am not likely to get it 100% the way I want. So....what next? Accept it (i.e. agree to go along) or say, the heck with this, and take up arms and just start killing all those that disagree (politically).
My point is, we know reality will always fall somewhere in-between 0% taxes and 100% taxes. And where that point settles is subject to change, based on the will of the people over multiple election cycles.
So, even that goofy Rep. Schakowsky is right to a certain extent. No individual taxpayer should expect to keep 100% of their income, because we all benefit from some of what the gov-mint does... national defense!...and we should all contribute.
She's just another socialist from Barry's infested backyard of Chicago, Illinois. The Socialist's/Marxist's must have bred like rats up there the last 50 years.

Very well said. It is a shame that so many really have no damn idea what the government is ment to be!
