Hey y'all.

Couple of real quick tailgating questions. I am bringing myself and a group of friends to the game in a couple of weeks and am trying to prepare for the tailgate. Can you guys tell me what y'all do to watch television games while tailgating?

Currently, I am thinking of a couple of options. First, I'm thinking of attaching an antenna to my TV tuner (hookup to a laptop) in order to watch ABC, NBC, and CBS games. If this is possible in Ruston, what kind of antenna should I be looking at?

If the above is not possible, what kind of coverage can I expect for clear wireless/other wireless broadband for picking up ESPN3 games?

Thanks for any help guys, I'm really looking forward to visiting Ruston for my first time.



Also, I'm debating on whether I should stay the Friday and Saturday night in Shreveport or Ruston. Which would be more fun?

Welcome. I don't know about the tv situation.

Shreveport or Ruston... It probably depends on what you'd like to do for fun and maybe your age. Shreveport has the casinos and Hustler Club if yall wanna do that. Ruston is a college town with some bars. The Ruston nightlife crowd is basically all college-age kids, and the Shreveport nightlife crowd feels a bit older and more diverse.

There is all kind of TV watching going on at the tailgates, so somebody knows how to make it work.

I just walk up to a group with a TV, ask "Who's winning?" Someone hands me a beer and gives the score of whatever game is on, and says "Join us."

I would definitely do Ruston both nights. Hit up the Sundown Tavern for drinks on the patio, go get a Scatterload sandwich from Dowlings when you get in town Friday, get some pre-tailgating beers at the Dawghouse, and after the game (age permitting) hit up Rabbs for night life. Don't waste your time with that hour drive back and forth from Shreveport (it's probably the worst hour drive in the history of the motor vehicle).

By the way, Shreveport night-life is like an episode Jersey Shore. All faux-hawks and Ed Hardy shirts.

Nope. Its an lsu place first and foremost. Pontchatoula's might be a better choice.

I don't think were talking about the same Sundown...that was my bar during college and they were always pro-Tech all the time.

I agree Ponchatoulas is a better choice, but I will say that Sundown has improved. They now have the Tech Miller Lite/Bud Light neon signs up and they have a huge Tech schedule up on the wall near the pool table. Could it be better? Absolutely, but I don't think it warrants a boycott.

Sundown has excellent food and a great atmosphere. If you are an out of towner, it's a great place to go.

DFiH may have his personal beef with the owner, but it's still a good place to relax and get some good food.
