History isn't really with him. I saw a stat that showed pitchers making a third start on short rest in the World Series are 9-10. Carpenter did not pitch well the only other time he went on three days rest in these playoffs.

Still, I think he is LaRussa's only good option. The Cardinals have gotten to Game 7 of the World Series despite woeful starting pitching in the playoffs. I think they have only gotten their starter through five innings about three times. The bullpen, which was the Cardinals downfall for most of the season, has been the key in the playoffs.

Well, the bullpen was the key to the 1st two series, it hasn't been very good since the 1st game of the WS. I actually thought Westbrook might get the start. He was crappy during the season but has looked okay in two relief appearances and is a sinker ball pitcher. If they could get three good innings out of him it would be a big help. I expect Carpenter to start but if things go south early we might see him again.

Thanks for the congrats. I have spent the day at the hospital with daughter, son-in-law, 4 yr old grandson, and new grandson. The new baby had some respiratory problems and is on oxygen, but he is getting better and should be released tomorrow or Sunday.

I won't be making it to the DAWGS game tonight because I'll stay home to rest and watch game 7. Pulling for the Rangers; but the Cardinals seem to have the advantage tonight.

I hope to make it to the DAWGS baseball game Sunday.
