wac attendance through games on 10-15-11

a little too much free time produces this information.
wac per game attendance, per espn box scores, through games on 10-15-11 (numbers in parenthesis indicates number of home games played thus far):
1. hawaii...33,878 (2)
2. fresno state...30,582 (3)
3. louisiana tech...23,497 (3)
4. nevada...20,673 (2)
5. utah state...19,466 (3)
6. san jose state...18,445 (3)
7. new mexico state...15,730 (3)
8. idaho...13,330 (4)

not a lot of tech football news to be excited about this fall, but to me this is really impressive. ruston is about the same size as moscow, idaho. it is somewhat smaller than the logan, utahs and las cruces, new mexicos of the world. and these other schools are in huge population areas: honolulu; fresno; san jose; reno are all much larger than ruston. the fan support has been there, especially impressive from the students. next is homecoming on the 29th. hopefully, the support does not erode too much because you know the numbers will be decreased for the dreaded post thanksgiving game, no matter how we are playing.

Most of our fans have to make big road trips to the game, like I do from freakin' San Antonio. You've got plenty of people in areas like Lafayette. If only folks in Shreveport or Monroe gave a crap about anything but being on the idiot Tigger bandwagon...

Its amazing what winning does when you have a community of 100,000 to draw from. What was your attendance when you were 3-9 in 2010? (see link below) Quite a difference in one year. Additionally ULM's attendance records in 2010 from the same report below prove how these numbers can be skewed. What was your attendance for the Nichols game this year and how many were Nichols fans?

ULL has scheduled to win. Unfortunately for them, due to their weak schedule and being in the Sunbelt the only ones that notice are those in Lafayette. The rest of the nation overlooks their record and really do not care. PERCEPTION is EVERYTHING! Being in the Sunbelt any way you slice it is NOT good for national perception (ie, conference realignment).

Harris Poll votes? Seriously, did you just claim Harris Poll votes? What is that? Again, NO ONE in the country has noticed what is going on in Lafayette, Louisiana, nor do they care. Enjoy New Orleans, I hear it is wonderful this time of year. Boise State with a similar record is playing in the Sugar Bowl - the difference- scheduling and conference affiliation.

Harris Poll is the Sunbelt Conference of polls. Take pride in that. Everyone is looking at Hudspeth? They apparently havent seen who his wins are against, but then Tennessee called our coach with a losing record and paid him 2 million a year, so I guess wins and losses do not matter that much.

Tech in CUSA would increase our attendance significantlly. We would have natural rivals (not in the Sunbelt) so our fan base would be excited and opposing teams would no question bring more than ANY WAC school currently does.
