    Re: The Coaching Carousel Thread

It will be particularly interesting to see who New Mexico goes with. It's a program that really shouldn't be anywhere as bad as it is, but my understanding is that they are going to be *really* strapped for cash. If they were smart, they would go with someone that is well-off from a previous coaching job but willing to work cheap in order to "redeem themselves" for one reason or another. This could be a really good Terry Bowden opportunity (Mark Mangino also comes to mind). I suspect that while Mike Leach would take a non-BCS job, he would want one that puts together a better financial package than UNM would be able to muster.
University of Houston '01. Any references to "we" or "us" likely refer to UH. Cheers!

There have been numerous links with Leach to FAU. Tulane is the job that I am curious about. It could really impact their future move to an AQ conference and also it could change how we recruit in LA.

As has been well documented on this site, Houston Nutt is out as the Ole Miss HC but will finish coaching the remaining games this season.

Parialex, sorry to say it, but I think this is the year that Sumlin moves on. Would yall take a look at somebody like Hudspeth or would you be shooting for a higher profile candidate?

By the way, I think Leach gets back into coaching this year as well.

Doesn't surprise me at all. It's time for that old fossil to move on.

Meyer and Golden are being mentioned as a possible successor. I would think Golden is the frontrunner.

Whoever it is, I expect it to take a while since probably the President and AD will be out after all is said and done.

Looks like there will be alot of movement with trickle down effect. Coaches making a million will take the 2 mil jobs. Coaches making $600k will take the $1 mil jobs, etc. I hope what happened with Dooley does not happen with Dykes because I would like to see what this team does next year under him.
