Question about La. HS Football Playoffs
Woke up this morning and saw the brackets for the Texas HS Playoffs and my HS, Trinity, who is undefeated and ranked in the top-20 in the country and #4 in the state will likely have to play Allen, who is also undefeated and #2 in the state in the 2nd round. Then you have other parts of the bracket where two 6-4 teams might be matched up in the 2nd round.
So here is my question: In Louisiana do they seed the teams?? How do they work the brackets/schedule for the HS Football playoffs. The way they do it here is ridiculous. If you win your district you play the worse team from a nearby district in the opening round which they call Bi-District but after that it is a crapshoot and not based on any seeding system and I think that sucks.

Re: Question about La. HS Football Playoffs
Power rankings are used to qualify all the teams in each bracket. Only the top 32 teams from each bracket make the playoffs with #1 playing # 32 and #2 playing #31 and so one. The top 16 teams are home the first week then in the remaining weeks the home team is determined by who traveled last, higher seed and other factors. It can get complicated but actually rather simple too. It ain't the greatest but it has worked well in the past several years.

Re: Question about La. HS Football Playoffs
Not perfect but a lot better than what we do here in Texas. I hate that 3 or 4 of the top 6 teams could end up playing each other before the semifinals. It's all regional in Texas so if one region is tough one year several teams won't make deep runs in the playoffs when they are much better than many of the teams still playing.
