Tuesday there was actually some mallards on the water when i got there, back in a hole. not long after pretty good daylight the group of 8-10 mallards that had been hovering for a while came right down the length of the beaver pond and cupped into the area the others were in. it was a BEAUTIFUL sight. guys, being the ones lucky enough to have access to the outdoors, we truly need to keep in mind each and every time we're out there how blessed we are.

over the past few years at our lease, we have noticed that the absolute best time to hunt is immediately after a thunderstorm. some loud thunder and hard rain stirs the ducks up and gets them moving.

The ducks which had moved into our area near the RR disappeared last Friday. Very few Saturday, and even less yesterday. Heard very little shooting up and down the river.

good hunts on Dec. 30 and 31 during the warm weather. mostly mallards and pintail with a few teal mixed in.

front passed through and it slowed....very poor hunting on Sunday (5) and Monday (4). our field was whitecapping with the 20+mph north winds.

Last day of season in West Zone La. We only shoot "The Swamp" once a year and when the woodies are flying it is hard to keep shells in your gun. heck of a way to end the season!

Wish we'd of had a "Swamp" to shoot. Our season ended the same way it went most of the year -- pitiful.

My oldest is a bona fide quack addict, we need to hook up for some hunts next year.
