... at the TAG luncheon in s'port/bossier before this season? He said he expected to have a good team this year, but "I wouldn't want to play us next year." Some kinda took offense at his comment because they thought he was discounting this season. However, those who understand Dykes' personality know that he was simply telling it like he sees it. He thinks we have the potential to be VERY good next year.

That's one of the reasons I'm so interested in the bowl match-up with Sugar Bowl worthy TCU. If we can pull this off, it will significantly impact our preseason ranking. Combine a top 25 preseason ranking with a very good team and you have the recipe for something magnificent!

We had a terrific regular season. This game is more than just a reward for that. This game provides an opportunity to make things extremely interesting for next season. In same ways, it can be construed as our first game for next season. I'm pumped!!

I was there; but, I thought he said "we would have a good team this year; but, no one will want to play us next year". Anyway...it is about the same thing.

I've thought about that speech a thousand times during the season. I am very concerned that Dykes is being tapped already for Southern Miss. We must have a concerted effort to raise whatever it takes to keep him. That "very good year" could be yanked right out from under us if we don't lock him down with an offer he can't refuse. That means our core faithful need to step it up. I agree, this game is a classic "tipping point" for our program, and we must put our money where our mouths are. I'm ready...are all of you?

I don't see him going to Southern Miss. It will take a Pac 12 or Big 12 situation to lure him out, imo. We do need to compensate him appropriately. Yet, there is no way we can match what's being offered by some of the more prosperous programs. That said, I think Dykes wants to coach this team next year. He still believes what he said...

He will not go to Southern Miss

I think he sees next year as his big oppurtunity and will wait till after next year to tend other offers.
