As of right NOW, I THINK we end up in the merger...
But its a long time till the end of January first of February and things could change - and we could be back on the outside looking in if a wrench is thrown into the works -
On a scale of confidence between 1-10, I'm hovering at about a 7

Say we beat TCU, you think we would be almost a sure shot to be in the merger?
I think it has nothing to do with winning our Bowl. Starting the Q4E however.....
DFM, if we were to get in how much Of a boost would this give our Athletic budget?
Not relevant.
Go back and review SMU, Rice, and Tulsa's records in the year before they were invited to C-USA. UTEP's was better in 2004, but they were awful in 2003 (and previously). UCF went 3-9 and 0-11 in the two years before they joined CUSA. Marshall was 6-6 in 2004.
Check out Colorado's last year in the Big 12 before the PAC-12 invited them.
Heck, you think SMU to the Big East has anything to do with their 2011 record? Or San Diego State's invitation?
Winning is better than losing, but it's not the driving force here.
If we were to add the travel cost associated with being in the WAC, along with the payout difference of CUSA and WAC plus the increase in donations due to the enthusiasm associated with joining CUSA. I'd bet that it is a significant jump.
Still......let's just beat TCU's ass just the same. LA Tech needs all the help it can get.
Every little bit helps. TCU is widely considered the supreme non-Aq. The Frogs will soon be in the Big XII. Beating the MWC's CHAMPION can only make the people inviting us feel BETTER about inviting us.

If we get in there is a "buy in" of $2MM I think and an increase in annual conference fees...
It is more about "perception and association" with the CUSA schools where we should see our increases in fan support, tickets sales, giving etal...
Revenue sharing should be more, but as I said we have some bills to pay first before the increase takes effect

True...... Like stated above, it has nothing to do with an invitation, but it looks better. Also, if they see us as a rising power that brings down TCU and have hopes of trying for a bcs auto bid again, it makes good sense to include us.
However, a CUSA invitation has NEVER hinged on having a winning program.
