I saw this a few weeks ago. They are phasing the incans out completely. Was if 5 years or so?

Seems that the incans don't last nearly as long as they once did anyway. Is that my imagination?

Nope, they've sucked. I would go as far as accusing manufacturers of making them faulty to make sure their supply is sold out. But I get paranoid like that with stuff like this.

I think Honda did the same thing with their 4-wheelers a few years ago. I talked to some guys at McKinney who worked in the repair shop and they said they almost never saw a Honda until they came out with the electric shift models. At least they didn't see them for "routine" maintenance.

Eh, lights are lights. I like the ones that have two settings. I mostly use the "night light" setting instead of the main for the Sylvania bulb I'm using. MUCH easier on my eyes since I'm up at night and sleep during days.

    OMG Congress to the rescue?

    http://www.politico.com/news/stories/1211/70534.html

The shutdown-averting budget bill will block federal light bulb efficiency standards, giving a win to House Republicans fighting the so-called ban on incandescent light bulbs.

GOP and Democratic sources tell POLITICO the final omnibus bill includes a rider defunding the Energy Department's standards for traditional incandescent light bulbs to be 30 percent more energy efficient.

The 300 model that came out in the late 80's/early 90's was the best EVER. Many of those are still running well.
