I'm not really sure. They seem serious, but "they" are only about a dozen people. I just stumbled across this at the city-data forum.

Sadly, I think they are serious.

The Oligarchical Republic of Lwizyàn is a proposed sovereign nation now in the state of Louisiana, a southern US state. From its unwilling join with the USA with the Louisiana Purchase - 1803, the people of South Louisiana mostly those of Creole and Cajun descent have plead on many accounts to expel from the present day USA. From early discrimination to its natives with the destruction of their native tongue, "Louisiana Creole/ Cajun French" and from neglect to their region after Hurricane Katrina in 2005, a group of early Cajun/ Creole pioneers have come today to form the, "Oligarchical Republic of Lwizyàn". This new nation will include 44 of the 64 current parishes in Louisiana; today these parishes are part of the South, East, and Central Louisiana regions. With some border changes these parishes are all joined in the fight to reign as their own interconnected country as the Oligarchical Republic of Lwizyàn, or the ORL. ( This is a real project that is being proposed )
We are not a pro American Civil War II or anti-American organization. We only desire the strengthening drive to enrich and preserve the lives of the Louisiana cultured Cajun/ Creoles.
To form a new nation under the order of Lwizyan Creole/ Cajun beliefs. Creating a grand Global country with great history and pride of itself. Our mission is to bind together the deeply enriched and cultured people of South Louisiana and show the world who we are, And in turn persevering, strengthening, and expanding our culture.

I guess this would be the only way for ULL to actually become just UL. I bet they are behind it.

And I'm pretty sure they are selective on their history.

Oh, if only it could become a reality! Build a fence and just watch that third world country gradually slide back into the Gulf!

They'll be quick to appoint Edwin Edwards as chief oligarch, or whatever. He'd make sure the coffers never got too full.
