Spent a summer in Mineral Wells back in 1980. Nice little town then. I take it things have changed?

I don't know what it used to be, but we spent a weekend there in May. We have no plans to go back.

The wooden bat Texas Collegiate Summer League has already been playing in cities in Texas and Louisiana for quite a few years. The TCSL has teams spread all over Louisiana and Texas - Alexandria, Lafayette, Kilgore, Victoria, Bryan, and Coppell. That's a lot of travel for games - over 400 miles between Lafayette and Coppell.

This new league (HOFL) will have a smaller footprint with teams located closer to I-20. The longest distance to travel is about 265 miles. Shreveport is the longest distance away from the other teams.

Both leagues were started by high profile attorneys. There could be a story behind the story here. I wonder if they will both operate and compete for players or is something else going on?

The only thing I saw the one time I was in Mineral Wells was a cool old hotel that was designed by the same guy who designed the Majestic in Hot Springs. Didn't notice much other than that. It was about as good as the Grass Lands park we also toured that day!
